Aston University – ABS Conference Centre

Although we are already an approved contractor for Aston University, we were awarded the opportunity to install the new revolving entrance doors for the Aston Business School (ABS) and Conference Aston building through an open tender process.

The project was very high-profile given the location of the works on the campus and the importance of the ABS and conference centre for students, lecturers, and third-party visitors alike.

The fit out project consisted of two phases spread across a 10-week period, with phase two taking place during the incredibly busy Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, bringing with it a slew of challenges to overcome.

The first phase was to upgrade one existing set of manual swing doors while installing another set next to them, and then ensuring that they were all fully automated.

The second phase was to remove the other set of entry doors and carry out the ground works in preparation for the delivery and installation of a new revolving door entrance.

We had three main concerns to focus on throughout the project due to the location and importance of the work. Doing this ensured that the building was accessible at all times across the 10-week period, eradicating any health and safety risks, and limiting the amount of noise generated as a result of the work.

The contract was worth a total of £140,000.
